Of all the accolades of one of Major League Cricket’s most recognizable franchises – Texas Super Kings have yet to hoist the championship trophy. The franchise aims for consistency turning into silverware again ahead of the 2026 season.

Taking cue from the legacy of their parent franchise in India, the Chennai Super Kings, the Texas side has managed to woo local fans in America. It is a carnival very much like the ones that happens at Chennai, where supporters clad in yellow provide a bright and beautiful backdrop for chants, whistles and loud roars of support.

But something has always prevented the team from finishing its climb all the way to the summit, even as it continued to hold such popularity. Texas has always been the most competitive side in Major League Cricket Having reached the playoffs each of the league’s first three seasons, they are now perennial contenders. But, every campaign ended in disappointment before they could clinch the title.

It seems they need to change, as their success can not be translated into championships. Despite another fruitful league phase for the Super Kings last season, winning seven of their ten matches to progress into the knockout stage with ease, they have decided to reshape the squad quite a bit.

Marcus Stoinis, Noor Ahmad and Daryl Mitchell are all departing the franchise as well. All three played a big role in Texas becoming one of the top teams in the tournament with their all-around qualities and match-winning capabilities.

Key departures: Perhaps the biggest talking point is the loss of several key components who played huge roles in what took place. The departure of Devon Conway also signals an end to a most fruitful portion for the franchise. The New Zealand batter amassed more than 600 runs across three seasons and built a reliable opening partnership with Faf du Plessis to provide soundness, steadiness and solidity at the top of the order.

Thus, the coming season now is a reset. After a restructured squad and rekindled desire, effort will be on Texas Super Kings to fetch the Major League Cricket crown from what had almost become their grasp.

Combined with lofty standards set by a Super Kings brand founded around a winning culture, mediocrity is no longer acceptable for this team.
